20 Beauty Hacks Using Coconut Oil You Would Love

While it may still surprise most, some people are beginning to realize that aside from kitchen counters, coconut oil deserves a spot on bathroom shelves and bedroom vanities as well.

You’ve probably heard of all the health benefits coconut oil can do for your body. It improves digestion, fights infection, and increases metabolism, to name a few.

But it has beauty benefits also. Packed with vitamins D, E, and K, the miracle worker can transform your skin, face, and hair in minutes.

So today, we will talk about some of its uses that will further enhance your beauty.

1.  Supple and soft skin

Replace your daily moisturizer with coconut oil. It makes your skin soft and hydrated. Coconut oil helps bolster your skin’s protective barrier layer, trapping moisture inside and keeping skin supple and hydrated.

2. Remove makeup

Scoop out a tiny amount of coconut oil and rub it between your fingers to warm it up.

Apply it all over the face, then wipe it off with a dry cotton ball, and it’ll take your makeup with it.

3. Under eyes treatment

Massaging your under-eye area with coconut oil removes not only the dark circles but also reduces the wrinkles and puffiness of your eyes.

Always make sure you use cold-pressed extra virgin coconut oil. It contains more antioxidants than regular coconut oil.

4. Long eyelashes

Not only is virgin coconut oil safe for use around your eyes, but it’s also a great moisturizer and strengthener for your eyelashes.

You can dip your clean old mascara brush in coconut oil and apply it to your eyelashes. Continuously use coconut oil, and your eyelashes make them long and shiny.

5. Cuticles cream

Coconut oil makes your cuticles healthy and less prone to dryness and peeling. Apply some coconut oil over your cuticles and rub it softly.

6. Lip gloss

Just mix some amount of your old lipstick with coconut oil. Mix it well. Your tinted lip gloss is ready.

7. Teeth Whitner

Have you ever heard of oil pulling? Regular oil pulling makes your teeth whiter and brighter. Put one tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and push and pull the oil through your teeth to oil pull.

8. Lip balm

Replace your regular lip balm with coconut oil. It makes your lips super hydrated and super smooth. Just apply coconut oil to your lips.

9. Feet cream

At bedtime, apply a generous amount of coconut oil to the feet, heel, and toe area, and cover your feet with cotton socks.

By morning, your feet should feel soft and supple. You can repeat it if desired.

10. Shaving cream

Mix aloe vera gel and coconut oil in equal proportion. Then, add 4-6 drops of your favorite essential oil.

Keep the mixture in an airtight plastic container. Apply a thin layer to the desired area for shaving.

11. Scar treatment

I remember that day when I burned my chin which left a mark on my chin. Then I used Coconut Oil daily, and believe me, it disappeared entirely in a few days.

Just apply some coconut oil on the marks 2-3 times a day and massage it for a minute.

12. Deep hair conditioner

Take 2 tbsp virgin coconut oil (solid-state ) and 1 tbsp of jojoba oil in a bowl and stir well. Stirring will heat it just enough to create a smooth, creamy texture.

Add 3-5 drops of your preferred essential oil. Many essential oils can help promote hair and scalp health, including lavender, rosemary, peppermint, and geranium. Stir well.

Apply the mixture to your hair from roots to ends, paying particular attention to dry areas. Then cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic cap, and use a hairdryer to warm the hair a bit.

Leave the mixture on your hair for 15-30 minutes. Finally, wash and condition your hair as usual. Use this deep conditioner once a week for the full benefit.

13. Minimize dandruff

Coconut oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties that can help reduce the risk of infections.

It improves skin hydration and reduces symptoms of dandruff. The best way to use coconut oil for dandruff is to use it in place of your shampoo and conditioner.

Apply it directly to the scalp and comb throughout the rest of your hair for extra benefits. Leave it on for a few minutes to make sure the oil has a chance to penetrate your hair and skin, then rinse it off thoroughly.

14. Lip scrub

Take 1 tbsp of organic coconut oil, 2 tbsp of brown sugar ( as it is softer exfoliant than white sugar ), and 1 tbsp of honey in a bowl.

Mix it well until you achieve your desired scrub consistency. And store in a small glass container. Your DIY lip scrub is ready.

This lip scrub recipe should last for approximately two weeks if you keep it refrigerated. Before each use, let the scrub sit out and adjust to room temperature to soften up before applying to your lips.

Using a generous amount, apply the scrub to your lips in a circular motion. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes, and then remove with a warm washcloth. Apply lip balm after scrubbing.

15. Natural highlighter

All you need to do is apply coconut oil, where you would usually use a highlighter, and you become sparkly and shiny.

16. Frizz tamer

Coconut oil stops the hair from absorbing water, especially in humid climates, which can help prevent frizz. Damaged hair tends to look frizzy, even in dry weather.

As coconut oil can penetrate the hair shaft, it can also help smoothen damaged, uneven hair.

17. Makeup primer

Coconut oil works as the perfect primer for a foundation. Dab some on your face, let it soak in and then apply your foundation.

You will notice how much smoother and longer your makeup stays.

18. Toothpaste

You can make your toothpaste with coconut oil by taking 1/2 cup coconut oil (liquid state) and 2 tbsp baking soda and mixing until it forms a paste-like consistency.

Add 10–20 drops of peppermint or cinnamon essential oil. Store toothpaste in a sealed container. To use, scoop it with a toothbrush. Brush for 2 minutes, then rinse.

19. Bath oil

Add 4-5 drops of coconut oil to a bath to soak in its moisturizing benefits. Also, add  Epsom salts (as they help soothe muscles and beat bloating) and your favorite essential oils to make your bath time even better.

20. Body scrub

Use a 2:1 ratio of Sugar to Coconut oil in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Put into a container for use.

To use, apply scrub with hands. Cover your body with an adequate amount of body scrub, and using circular motions, massage it into your skin for 5-10 minutes. Then take a shower.
